HOW TO – Delete Avast Email Signature
Updated by Ben Stockton on March 5, 2021
The Avast email signature is automatically added to the footers of the emails you send when Avast or AVG is installed. To get rid of it, you have to do this.
Avast is one of the most popular free antivirus programs for Windows users, but it has no problems. One of its most unique features is to automatically add Avast ads to your outgoing emails. If you install Avast (or its close sibling AVG), it will automatically add ads to the end of your emails. Understandably, this feature can be annoying for some users, especially since it is not immediately visible for installation. It can also add a non-professional element to your emails, especially professionals. If you want to delete an Avast email signature, you must do this.
What is Avast Email Signature?
Avast Email Signature is automatically activated when you install Avast antivirus software. When Avast is running, the software automatically adds a signature in the footer to all emails you write.
Avast adds this to e-mails written by installed e-mail clients, such as Outlook, and also through web-based e-mail services, such as How to remove Avast email signature from my email Gmail. The added message will vary, including “Virus Free” and “This email was sent from a virus-free computer protected by Avast.”
This feature is also enabled by AVG, the free Avast antivirus software that shares many of its features. While advertising for Avast is a free and useful way to gain new customers, it notifies every email recipient that you are using Avast or AVG. Especially for professional users, this free ad can reduce the quality of the emails you send. You can remove an Avast email signature before sending the email, but it is a time consuming process. However, the best way to prevent it from appearing is to turn off the entire feature. However, this process is not obvious, so if you want to stop displaying an Avast email signature in Avast or AVG, you must follow the steps below.
How to deactivate Avast Email Signature
The Avast e-mail signature is visible to Avast users in Windows 10. To delete it, start by right-clicking the orange Avast icon on the taskbar, which appears in the system tray on the right. In the menu, click Open Avast UI.

This will open the Avast user interface. To open the settings menu, touch Menu at the top right.
Open the Avast menu
In the menu, click Settings.
Open the Avast settings menu
In the Avast Settings menu, click the Protection tab on the left. For a list of protection features and settings in Avast, select Core Shields.

This setting should be disabled when you uncheck the box to prevent Avast ads from being added to your emails in the future.

How to deactivate AVG email signatures
While previously independent, the popular free antivirus software AVG has been owned by Avast since 2016. It already uses the same scanning engine and includes many of the same features, including an email signature ad. Like Avast, these email ads are added to the bottom of emails that you send from desktop email clients and your web browser. The process of deleting an AVG email signature in Windows 10 is similar to that of Avast users. You can start by double-clicking the AVG logo in the system tray area of the taskbar. Alternatively, right-click the icon and then click Open in the pop-up window.
Open the AVG interface in Windows
In the main AVG interface, click on the Menu option at the top right.
Open the AVG menu
In the menu, click on Settings. Open the AVG settings menu
In the AVG Settings menu, click Basic Protection> E-mail Screen to display the e-mail settings. To delete AVG e-mail signatures, uncheck the Add signature at the end of sent e-mails option.
Disable AVG email signature
If you do not check this box, AVG ads will no longer be added to sent emails. The settings are saved automatically, so press the Close button at the top left to close the settings menu.

Protect computers running Windows 10
Avast (and its subsidiary AVG) are popular antiviruses, but given the privacy scandals and controversial “features” such as Avast’s email signature, it is definitely worth considering alternatives. Windows Defender in particular is a great way to keep your computer clean without the use of third party software.
Antivirus software like Avast and AVG can cure the infection, but it’s up to you to keep your computer virus-free. You can keep your computer safe by updating it regularly, including regularly updating any installed software. You will also need to back up your files to ensure that you can quickly wipe and restart your computer if you have a virus infection that you cannot recover.
